You can download Introducing Medical Anthropology: A Discipline in Action for everyone book 4shared, mediafire, hotfile, and mirror link This revised textbook provides students with a first exposure to the growing field of medical anthropology. The narrative is guided by unifying themes. First, medical anthropology is actively engaged in helping to address pressing health problems around the globe through research, intervention, and policy-related initiatives. Second, illness and disease cannot be fully understood or effectively addressed by treating them solely as biological in nature; rather, health problems involve complex biosocial processes and resolving them requires attention to range of factors including systems of belief, structures of social relationship, and environmental conditions. Third, through an examination of health inequalities on the one hand and environmental degradation and environment-related illness on the other, the book underlines the need for going beyond cultural or even ecological models of health toward a comprehensive medical anthropology. The authors show that a medical anthropology that integrates biological, cultural, and social factors to truly understand the origin of ill health will contribute to more effective and equitable health care systems.

Because, I found the text of important value in terms of an emphasis which need be stressed on the need for an elaborated knowledge of anthropological facts for those involved in the delivery of most types services to the variant types of earthly homo sapiens around the globe but more certainly in the delivery of health care. I feel that emphasis should have been placed on the subject matter when I studied the matter for it may have positively affected my approach to my patients as I served in ships at sea for several years while I reiterate that more emphasis on anthropology may have been placed as a function of medical treatment, including physiological/psychological facts, as the apply in dealing with humans. My feeling is that the rudiments of Medical Anthropology should be emphasized at the medical school level so to prepare medics in dealing with "all sorts of people" so to efficiently adapt to patient types phenomena. The facts of physiology may or may not vary but relevant Ethnology/graphy has to be reckoned with as an important variable in Bio medical and/or similar types of related health care and I am of the opinion that the pertinent information is available in this book.It is indeed magnificent knowledge to everyone who is involved in rendering all kinds of services of to all types of people. It can also certainly stand as a refresher or surely to enlarge upon basic Anthropology 101 and pertinent ethnography.
