This book is horrible. The way it is written is so difficult to understand. especially if you are just entering the Health Information field and this is your textbook.
At least with the ICD-10-PCS book by Lynn Kuehn, there were explanations that you could understand. Not the case with this one.
In this book, it is so convoluted and contradictory, you are left scratching your head, wondering what to do. For example, in the Chapter on Pregnancy it tells you that a particular code excludes a certain diagnosis, and then goes on to list 3 codes with that very diagnosis under that code. I'm sorry, but doesn't Exclude 1 mean you can't use it???
And I am not alone. Multiple people in my class have come forward to admit that this book has everyone feeling lost and is more difficult to follow and understand.
Definitely not a textbook that I would choose to try and teach people.

I was very disappointed with textbook. I used it recently for my ICD-10-CM class. The only thing it was good for was learning the guidelines and practicing exercises. In my opinion the size of this textbook could've been greatly reduced, because all the author did was repeat over and over and over again the guidelines throughout the text. This was very frustrating, confusing, and not necessary. This was a hard read for me and my classmates, it took a lot to get through. I am glad I did not pay full price for this book. Once again AHIMA has released a subpar book that needs to taken back to the drawing board.
