This was a great book to review for the praxis, VERY comprehensive but don't rely on it completely. while you may feel that you have to do this book in its entirety, you don't necessarily have to. what i would say is that this test is largely your test-taking abilities, your ability to reason, deduce and think quickly. that means becoming very familiar with the material (in which this book may not be the trick to help you do that). while it gives a comprehensive review, I almost felt like it was too comprehensive -- it is more efficient to identify areas of weakness and work on familiarizing yourself (really well) with the material you are not so well-versed in. so that once you are given one question, you can spot the answer quickly and immediately. after all, it is a 2 hr test with 120 MC questions. while it is a comprehensive exam book, it is not a saving grace. what i will recommend is do time yourself and take as many practice tests as you can, become very familiar with the praxis questions. this is half the battle. the other half of the battle is knowing a little bit of everything and i cannot stress enough - know the BIGGER picture. folks, it is not called a comprehensive SLP for no reason. no the general terms and ideas, concepts (think, if you were to write a question regarding motor speech disorders - what are some main concepts that you should know?). BIGGER PICTURE. the praxis is not a head scratching, made for genius thinkers test. it tests your comprehensive knowledge and ability to recognize the answer quickly, think critically (when given a scenario) and deduce the incorrect choices based on what you know about the disorder. plain and simple. if you follow these rules, you will pass the first try! :) I certainly studied, but did not rely on this book entirely.
