I have a previous edition of the book. The book is wonderful. Elsevier's on line access is not the best. For this book the publisher is clueless on where people might use this book. Unless you carry power and a satellite system in most if not all wilderness settings you will not have access to the " wonderful, portable , online content." A previous edition of this book was sold with a full content CD (which one paid extra for) . Elsevier should offer that option for this edition.
It is hard to be too positive on the content of this book but the online access won't do you much good unless you are sitting in your comfortable office. I would probably buy this if I could get a full content CD. As it is since I have access to the book online it won't help me much to own a copy.
I am new to Kindle but that format doesn't seem to be useful for a reference text.
Interestingly at this time (12/20/2011) you can get the book cheaper at the ELSEVIer site than on Amazon ( not the usual case).

highly recommended for all outdoorsy providers from basic to advanced knowledge. i was a paramedic, Army Medic and am a Physician Assistant and i find this book to be very in depth and easily understood.
